Day 3

Hello everyone!

We are finally at the end of a very long day.  We were on the bus at 8:25 this morning for a day trip to the city of Segovia.  This location is another beautiful city that has a medieval feel to its streets and shops.  Stops here included a massive roman aqueduct and the Spanish castle called Alcazar.  Then we drove to visit a famous monastery called El Escorial which served as the religious retreat for King Phillip II.  We viewed the mausoleum where the vast majority of former Spanish monarchs are buried.  Next, we spent an hour or so at the Valley of the Fallen, where General Francisco Franco is buried.  Then it was onto a bullfight in Madrid, dinner in the city, and then a flamenco show.  After the show, we had a private visit from one of the dancers who talked to us about the history and rhythm of this captivating art form.  Tomorrow we are heading to Cordoba and Seville.  Here's the latest pictures.  I just realized that a piece of "fuzz" was on the lens, so I guess photoshop is in order when we get home.
